Injured Much? Top 10 Most Injury Prone Athletes

injuredmuch

Chipper Jones got hurt in the WBC for his like 100th time in his career and it just got me to wondering, if he is one of the most injury prone athletes ever, I know he’s not out for any significant time but dude is always hurt.

So out of the three major sports I compiled a list of Injury prone players.

1. Tracy McGrady- One of the most talented players ever, but can’t finish a season ever.

2. Michael Redd- One of the best shooters in the game but he gets hurt every day(Worst player to build a franchise around)

3. Yao Ming- Guaranteed to miss 10 games a season, minimum

4. Grant Hill-Just think what he could have become, but the injuries in Detroit killed him

5. Greg Oden- I know he is still only a second year guy, but dude even had to sit out at Ohio State because of injuries

6. Ken Griffey Jr.- He would have 900 home runs right now and we wouldn’t have to put an asterisk on the home run record but it seems like as soon as he went to the Reds he couldn’t stay on the field.

7. Chipper Jones- Would have been the NL MVP last season but once again spent to much time on the DL. It is a for gone conclusion each season Chipper will spend time on the DL.

8. Donovan McNabb- Except last season, the past 5 years he has been forced to miss playing time because of injuries. 3 seasons ago he was scorching the league and then got hurt, missed a chance to win an MVP.

9. Brian Westbrook- Every game for the past 3 years he has been a game time decision, he literally can’t stay healthy for a full week.

10. Antonio Gates, Dallas Clark and Todd Heap- All 3 elite tight ends are constantly getting injured and their teams offense depend on their big name tight ends to be healthy.

I’m personally going to say that Michael Redd is hands down the most injury prone athlete, hes making a little under 16 million dollars a year to do what? Sit on the sidelines and watch his team fight for a playoff spot. I’m just saying think about what the Bucks could do with the payroll they are paying Redd to constantly get hurt and leave the Bucks high and dry. I hate Michael Redd and Herb Kohl for allowing that contract to even be offered!

  • Should The NBA Reduce Number Of Games?

    nba

I know this article is not going to make me a lot of friends, but I had to get this idea of mine out there. I was trying to think about reasons why I enjoy watching the NFL so much more then the NBA, I love playing both sports, and I love watching the NBA come playoff time. So what is it about regular season NBA games that is deterring me from tuning in to every game?

Well here is my idea. Reduce the number of regular season games. Why? Well if you think about it, NFL games are so exciting and so crucial because the game counts for soooooo much. It is intense and you know you have to win. What NFL games do you not bother to watch? The ones when the team already has clinched and the other team can’t make the playoffs so they sit the starters. The game essentially doesn’t matter, like a majority of the NBA games. It seems like the players of the NBA know this and half the time are lazy on defense and are not giving 110%. Why does there need to be 82 NBA regular season games? Wouldn’t it be way more exciting if there was like 30?  Every game would become a must win type scenario. Right now in the NBA you can make the playoffs with over 30 losses and losing records, it is ridiculous!

To help prove my point, lets use NCAA Men’s Basketball. There are less games in their season so these kids are trying much harder to win every game, and I enjoy watching the NCAA regular season much more then the NBA. I know there are other reasons why they play harder, like getting drafted, but less games is a major factor as well.

Some people may say; why not do the same for baseball then? Well in my opinion, baseball’s length of the season is a part of the actual game of baseball. Endurance and pitching rotation is a major part of the strategy of the actual game.

Now I am sure that at first glance NBA fans will throw me up on the cross to be crucified for suggesting that they shorten the sport season that they love watching, but think about it for a bit before you disagree…

How many of your favorite NBA team’s games have you missed for non emergency reasons, and how many of your favorite NFL team’s games have you missed?

  • Joe Johnson: Underrated Much?

    joejohnson

Can Joe Johnson please get some love? There is no one in the NBA that gets the superstar snub more than Joe Johnson. Dude is a legit Franchise building piece.

The dude has been to three straight all star games after signing the huge contract with the Atlanta Hawks. Did anyone notice that the Suns have never been the same since losing Johnson? Everyone has a top 3 players; Kobe, Wade, Lebron then there is that second tier headed by CP3 and Howard, everyone wants to throw Brandon Roy and Deron Williams in the mix, can we please not skip over Joe Johnson and get him in the second tier. He has carried his team to 4th in the Eastern Conference and is the 4th best player in the East, Wade, Lebron, Howard and then it’s gotta be JJ.

God damn lets get some love for #2. Also read my DWADE blog and you know I am right no comments needed on this topic.

  • Run for the Shameful Eastern Conference 8 Seed

    eastern

With about 18-20 games left in the NBA season It’s officially now time to start discussing the playoffs!!! The main thing I’m worried about is in all likelihood the eight seed in the east that my Bucks are desperately limping to try to lock down. With all the injuries and new regime changes the bucks have done surprisingly well!! Let’s start the discussion with the East playoff picture, here’s what the eastern conference standings look like today:

    1. Cleveland 48-12
    2. Boston 48-14
    3. Orlando 46-16
    4. Atlanta 34-27
    5. Miami 32-28
    6. Detroit 30-29
    7. Philadelphia 29-30
    8. Milwaukee 29-35
    9. Chicago 28-34
    10. New Jersey 27-34
    11. Charlotte 26-35
    12. Indiana 27-37
    13. New York 25-35

SO after looking at the standings who’s your pick to be the eight seed or maybe you think Detroit or Philly will fall and that two of the teams on the outside will get in?? Who will lock up home court advantage all the way through?? And who will get the more coveted 4 seed instead of 5??

I personally think Detroit and Philadelphia hold on and that Milwaukee gets the 8. Cleveland is strong and adding Joe Smith is going to dampen the loss of Big Ben, they will hold the one seed starting with their win over Boston tonight. And I know this will fire Kittels up a bit but I’m holding the Heat at five and then having to play on the road more come playoff time (and we all know that’s certain doom for eastern conference teams).

  • Steph Curry is Wack!

    curry2

So in a recent comment done by “The Chosen One” on the bandwagon post, he wrote it was okay to be on the Stephen Curry bandwagon. Can I please say that Steph Curry is a douche and won’t turn into anything in the pros.

Okay so as you know Stephen Curry because america’s true underdog last season by leading the NCAA in scoring and carrying his team to the elite 8 . They list him at 6′3″ but there is no way he is over 6 foot.

What he did last season was a great story no doubt about it, but can we please stop talking about him. Why is ESPN televising a Davidson game when you can just put on any Big East game. I will tell you why, they want to push Curry on us and show flashes of Dell Curry in the stands, which we all know Dell loves because he never got this much attention throughout his in entire 13 year career in the NBA.

I know Davidson moved Curry to the point so that it would up his draft stock but don’t kid yourself, the kid will never be anything in the pros. He shoots under the 40% mark and he wont be playing against the bum competition of the Southern Conference, he will be going against the NBA and its amazing talent of players, that will tear apart the skin and bones Curry.

I’m just saying Curry is soft, no doubt he made college basketball fun to watch, but please this guy isn’t special he just shoots 25 times a game, if I shot that much I could be averaging 28 points a game in the Southern Conference as well!

  • Bandwagon Much?

    bandwagon3

One of my least favorite things about being a sports fan is all of the bandwagoners there are.  Once a team gets good its like they get nine hundred million fans that a year ago didn’t give a shit about them.

Did anyone else notice how many people were trying to rock their Patriots gear when they were going for their undefeated season? Okay there is no one doing that if the Patriots are 8-8. You shouldn’t have gotten on the Patriots wagon, BUT no you wanted to be the douche bag to root for a team and claim them as your team your whole life when you just became a fan, all Patriots fans, go dig a hole and jump in because there is no way you’re a true fan unless your from New England.

Boston Celtics fans, I understand that the Celtics have the Big 3 and maybe you were a KG fan or a Ray Allen fan but tell me the truth while your rocking your green Celtics shirt, were you a fan when they spent 6 straight years in the lottery, and in 2006-2007 when they were losing on purpose, yea your right I’m sure you were sitting on the edge of your chair watching Doc Rivers coach the worst team in basketball. Go join the Patriots fan in that hole they just dug.

Tampa Bay Rays fans, really? So let me guess you were waiting out their season of 100 lose seasons just knowing they were going to turn it around, so I’m guessing now that they are good you’re gonna go root for the Pirates. No, don’t be an idiot you only started rooting for the Rays is because of their historic turn around last season, you didn’t even know who Matt Garza was and now I’m sure your wearing the jersey and the hat saying Ive been a fan for years, yea no you weren’t.

Okay people I’m gonna tell you what if you’re a fan of the 3 teams I listed,  you aren’t a true sports fan, you are what they call a bandwagoner. You think you like sports but you only like a team when they are good, what are you going to do once they’re bad again? Throw away your gear of the team and look at ESPN and see what team is good and start a brand new wardrobe? I speak facts.

  • A.I. or Shaq?

    shaqvsai

Everyone wants to talk about who is the best player in basketball, I don’t wanna talk about that, I wanna know who you’d rather have out of the two aging Hall of Famers;  Allen Iverson or Shaquille O’neal?

Both are on the down slide of their careers and injuries have slowed down both athletes. My question for you is who has more left in the tank? Which one would you like to see your team make a move for? The 36 year old Shaq has had a resurgence this year, but could you see him keeping it up for another two season? Like he said at the all star break, he at least wants 2 more years. Allen Iverson is 33 years old and has been one of the most prolific scorers of the generation. However, an ailing back has made Iverson miss plenty of time this season, also are all those minutes he played each season with the 76ers hurting the aging scorer?

In my opinion I’m going with A.I. I know Shaq is dominate this year but I think once A.I.’s contract runs up and he can sign with a new team we will all see him go back to the dominate scorer he once was. Could you Imagine if you put A.I on the Thunder, moved Westbrook to the 2, Durant to 3, and Green to 4 all that team would be missing is a center IE. Hasheem Thabeet in the draft with the first pick to be a contender.

  • What happened to Collecting Cards?

    cards

So back in the day whenever I received money, the first thing I did was ride my bike down to the local card shop and buy a pack of cards. Kids now a days are buying these pokemon and magic cards. What happened to buying a deck of baseball cards hoping to get your favorite player or a rare card worth a lot of money? I’m just saying, what happened in ten years where sports card collecting went from a huge market to a minescule market? I mean I’m not saying I have been helping the cause because I don’t think I have bought  a single card since I was 12 years old, so that’s 10 years of no card buying for me, how long has it been for you? I thought of this because I am packing my shit to move soon and ran into the thousands of baseball cards I have in separate boxes. I started to go through and realized my Bonds and AROD rookies won’t be worth a shit anymore, but hey I still got my Kobe rookies. I say we make the movement to start buying some sports cards so that when when the market goes up and the values of cards rise again we can make out like bandits.

  • Better Pro: Hasheem Thabeet or Blake Griffin?

    hasheemthabeetblakegriffin

So as we all know by now it will more than likely come down to Griffin winning the player of the year award, but it brings up a question of who is going to have the better pro career?

I don’t think that there is a question that Thabeet will be the better pro and have the longer career.  I understand that Griffin has more talent, but keep in mind that Thabeet has only been playing basketball for 4 years, so he is a raw talent with a 7′3″ frame compared to Griffin who is going to be a 6′10″ power forward. I understand that Charles Barkley is probably the best power forward ever to play and was only 6′7″. However, unlike Barkley, Griffen is soft, he isn’t going to be effective in the pros. I see Griffin being basically a Charles Oakley type where as I can see Thabeet having maybe a Hakeem career, if he can develop a shot.

  • Dwade, Most Underrated Superstar in NBA?

    dwade

Whenever I hear anyone talk about the best players in the NBA, only 2 names come to peoples minds; Its either Lebron or Kobe every single time. Explain to me how that is possible? What has Lebron accomplished? Dwade has a championship and a finals MVP, Lebron hasn’t been to a finals to date. Yea Kobe has three wins but look at the talent Kobe had in his championships. I’m not saying that DWADE is hands down the best player, I just feel he needs to be in the discussion no matter what. Look at this year alone Kobe has Gasol and Odom two superstars and Lebron has Mo Williams and Big Z, then we take a look at what Wade has been given this season, a rookie point guard in super mario and a pathetic excuse of a big man in Jermaine O’neal. Look where the Heat are, 4th in the east! I will be willing to bet my paycheck that neither Kobe or LBJ would have the Heat nearly as good as they are this season.

When talking about MVP shouldn’t leading scorer be able to throw his hat in the mix, while according to everyone DWADE isn’t in the top 4 MVP candidates this season,  that is a joke!
