Conference Championship Week BABY!!!!!
Now that its championship week in college basketball let’s see what kind of upsets are brewing. This is a list of teams that have won their conference tournaments and are automatic bids into the tournament:
Robert Morris (23-10) Northeast, Radford (18-11) Big South, Stephen F. Austin (17-7) Southland, Binghamton (21-8) American East, Western Kentucky (22-8) Sun Belt, Northern Iowa (22-10) MVC, VCU (24-9) CAA, Bowling Green (16-12) MAC, Morgan St (19-11) MEAC, Cornell (19-9) Ivy, American (23-7) Patriot, East Tenn St (21-10) Atl Sun, North Dakota St (23-6) Summit, Weber St (20-8) Big Sky, CS Northridge (14-13) Big West, Morehead St (17-15) OVC, Chattanooga (—–) SoCon, Alabama St (—–) SWAC, Cleveland St (—–) Horizon, Sienna (—–) MAAC, Gonzaga (—–) WCC. Which one if any of these schools already in the tournament even have a chance to go anywhere let alone win ONE game. The obvious choice here is bracket mainstay Gonzaga, with Pargo and (mushroom man) Heyphelt they have some pieces that will allow them to make a run in the tourney. However if you watched any early season NCAA basketball you know Gonzaga got whopped by everyone good that they played which leads me to believe they are a one and done.
My dark horse from this list is VCU, they have this guy Maynor who led them to a win in the tourney 2 years ago when they upset Duke. Maynor has been the CAA player of the year the last two years and looks to be on the brink of establishing himself as the next Stephen Curry. They are really one of the only teams from this list that has a chance, but of course that will strongly depend on their matchup.
Other possibilities include WKU (they two games last year in the tourney, Sienna (back to back tourney appearances and has four or five really good 3 point shooters), and Northern Iowa (something about this team intrigues me).
But my favorite part of conference championship week is when the upset happens like last night with Cleveland St and now Butler is probably going to get an at-large which takes one more at large bid away from a St. Mary’s or San Diego St (who IMO don’t deserve to be in anyways). Bubbles bursting all week and I look forward to the major conference tourneys this weekend most notably the Big East, Big Ten, SEC, and ACC.

I like Pitt for the big dance this year
I would add North Dakota State to the list of teams that could win one come the tournament. Local product Mike Nelson leads the the Bison on the perimeter. I think this team definitely has the ability to knock off a 4/5 seed team like Missouri. Remember these two names, Woodside (23.0 ppg and 6.5 apg) and Winkelman (19 ppg). Don’t look past them to win a few games. Coach Saul Phillips (Reedsburg, Wisconsin’s own and former player under Bo at Platteville, and ex UW Director of operations) has this team playing great basketball.
Here are some numbers to support my argument:
7th in scoring offense
+5 rebounding margin (35th in nation)
5th in FG % at 49%
5th in 3-pt FG % at 41%
Bottom line is this is a great shooting team that has the ability to shoot its way past a few teams. They don’t miss much, but when they do, they rebound, reducing wasted possessions.

Even though I hate college basketball I think veeryone will agree I know more then you ever will about any basketball. Pitt would never be a 3 seed and whoever said that is just as stupid as you are about basketball…Watch a game and don’t just go off what other people say, also if you think the big 10 is legit your crazy cause only Michigan State has a chance to make to the sweet sixteen even

I had a dream that Jason Bohannon got so hot during this upcoming stretch that he carried the Badgers deep!!! Plus did anyone see Jordan Taylors play as of late dude is going to lead the Badgers very well in the near future. So eat that Kittels LOL!

Pitt isn’t a lock for a 1 seed but they will not get a 3, if they win the Big East tourney and play either Uconn in the semis or louisville in the finals or both and win , they will be the overall number 1 of the tourney. The lowest they would get is the highest rank two seed which means they would be in the same brack at the lowest ranked 1 seeds. Also Nova will win it all
Regardless of Pittsburgh rank in the tourney they will find a way to lose a game that everyone expected them to win, they’ve been a strong program since o2′ (top 10 team in the country each of those years) they have failed to get past the sweet 16. But hey its March Madness so who the hell knows whats going to happen

Okay you made that post at 3/11. What changed? Pitt lost the only game they played since you posted that, I’m sorry but there was no way that Pitt could have gotten bounced from that top line. So yea I agree with everyone else and you were way off.

There was 100% no chance of Pitt getting a 3 seed in the NCAA tourney at any point in the month of March. They were the one seed for awhile and haven’t fallen to more than 5th in the month of March, they were probably the most dominate team in college basketball this season, no one would agree that they had any chance of a 3 seed in the NCAA tourney. They were a 1 seed no matter what. Just watch a basketball game and you will find amazing things out
Well during the espn half time show for the michigan state game a few weeks ago there was this exact question: Is there a chance a #3 seed can win the NCAA tournament this year… his answer? “yes because there is still a chance pitt could become a #3 seed”

Im not afraid to admit that an overrated Big 10 got as many bids as the Big East and I was wrong cause I didn’t think they would get as much as the big east, but alot of people will agree with me on that, where as no one ever agreed with you about Pitt being a 3 seed, just admit you were way wrong and are backtracking so much because you want someone to defend you but no one ever will on this one
I was wrong obviously, they are a #1 seed. But the fact that i saw it on espn in the beginning of march is a true story.
