El Tigre Not Numero Uno?
For the first time in Sergio Garcia’s carrer, he has the chance to become #1 in the world. As you all know, the #1 spot has been held by Tiger Woods since June 12, 2005. With Tiger’s name on “injured reserve” for the past 8 weeks, Garcia has had a chance to climb the ranks. Gracia certainly could have done more to secure his top world ranking-having only won twice since Woods has been out. Sergio has also placed 2nd in the PGA championships. Garcia currently trails Tiger by 1.59 points.
This weekend, both Garcia and Woods are playing the CA Championships and in order for Garcia to dethrone Sir Eldrick Tont Woods, Sergio would have to win and Tiger would have to finish 27th or worse. I think this is possible. Tiger is still feeling the effects of his rehab and time off, and that was evident in the Accenture Match Play.
If nothing else, the possibility that a European can take the #1 world ranking will be reason enough for me to watch the final round.

Garcia to win is possible, but Tiger to finish below 27th is the part that i dont know about. Either way it will make it exciting to watch!
haha good joke…Garcia has never won under pressure hence his zero major victories and considering Tiger Woods has 65 PGA Tour victories (14 being majors) compared to Sergio’s 7 wins, just shows how bogus the world rankings are. I would say that there is a better chance of Brett Favre unretiring and playing for the Packers in 09′ then Sergio winning let alone beating Tiger. I am willing to bet any amount of money that this scenerio doesnt play out. Sergio is the modern times phil mickelson and lets not forget Tiger has a history of winning at Doral
Ok this scenario also occured in 2001 during the Masters when Sergio was 2 in the world and was playing in the group in front of Tiger… Needless to say Sergio folded like an oragami swan and Tiger held his position atop the mountain (where he will always stay)
…BUT STILL… it is more exciting…
It more exciting because Tiger is playing…sergio will probably shoot couple of 77 and not even make it to the weekend….

this time though, it is in the realistic grasps of Garcia’s. I think it may end up being close, with woods finishing play around 13th and Garcia up near the top. And don’t hate Garcia, he’s been runner-up of some majors.
Well dude Garcia is a chump how do you get to number two in the world and not win squat, and for him to be able to even smell Tiger at the top of the list is utterly ridiculous. whoever is in charge of compiling this list should be stood in front of a firing squad because it is simply absurd

Well I may be wrong but I believe the only spanish born player to win a major tournament in the PGA is José María Olazábal. I think there is a better chance of Tiger winning 3 if not all of the majors than Sergio even winning one.
