Is Albert Haynesworth Worth 100 Mil?

haynesworth

So as you all probably know by now, Albert Haynseworth signed a 7 year 100 million(14.29 mil a year) dollar contract today with the Washington Redskins.

No doubt Albert Haynesworth is hands down an excellent talent and I would have loved if my favorite team signed him, but is he really worth 100 million dollars? I mean for the so called “best defensive player in the game” wouldn’t you want a guy to make more then 51 tackles last season? I would hope if I’m going to pay that much moneythat I would be getting more bang for my buck. Also does anyone else notice the only time he comes up huge is when he is looking for a pay day? Its only a matter of time until he starts stomping on peoples faces, not to mention Haynesworth has only finished all 16 games of a season one time in his career since being drafted in 2002. I’m sure I will get a lot of the Haynseworth is a god, but if you give me 14 million dollars a year to spend on free agents, I would sign 2 or 3 players that could impact my team than one player.

Yes! Yes! and Yes! His 51 tackles rank number 1 amongst DT and if you look at game film of Haynesworth he is doubled or even tripled on every play and still manages to find his way into disrupting the offense. In my opinion only a few guys come along and can be as dominant as him at his position and those guys deserve BANK!!!

No way I would ever pay this guy 100 mil. he’s been known for being lazy, yeah he was beast last year, but so are alot of guys who are playing for big contracts. This guy will probably miss 2-4 games for you as he has probably his entire career. In my opinion the risk is not worth the reward. Thank you TT for staying out of those talks.

ever heard of raw emotion… This guy is a stud and the most important cog of the best or second best defense in the league last year… when he went out with an jnjury this year their performance as a unit dropped dramatically, he is so very important to them and there were other interested callers so they either had to pony up or say goodbye…

I hate dirty players. Lets pretend he isn’t a scumbag though, and still NO 100 mil? get out of here, i would rather have at least 5 other D linemen, and I could prolly almost get 2 of them for that price!!!

He is absolutely not worth that amount of money. That is Carson Palmer, Tom Brady, Peyton Manning level of money.

There are several franchise quarterbacks out there that make about half of what he makes that have a greater impact on the game than he does. He hasn’t stayed healthy for an entire sixteen game season since 2002, his rookie season. He’s twenty-seven now, and would be thirty-four at the end of his contract. The past two seasons he’s played were both in contract years so he was, for all intents and purposes, playing for his big pay day.

Now that he has the big contract, I expect a decline in his performance.
